Identification of the pathogen of sorghum anthracnose in Chongqing and fungicides screening
Sorghum cultivation is an important industry in Chongqing.Sorghum anthracnose is prevalent in some areas, which seriously affects the yield and quality of sorghum. In order to provide a basis for field control of sorghum anthracnose in Chongqing,we identified the pathogen of sorghum anthracnose in major sorghum planting areas of Chongqing, and screened efficient fungicides.Thirteen strains were selected after isolation and purification from samples collected from Yongchuan district,Liangping district,Jiangjin district,Dazu district,Dianjiang county,Yunyang county,Zhongxian county, and Tongnan district of Chongqing.Through the observation of morphological characteristics of the pathogen, combined with phylogenetic analysis of multi-gene(ITS,GAPDH,ACT,CH S)association, the 13 strains belonged to the same branch, all of which were Colletotrichum sublineola, suggesting that C.sublineola was the pathogen of sorghum anthracnose in Chongqing.Indoor inhibition test of the 10 fungicides against mycelial growth showed that five fungicides, including triflumizole,trifloxystrobin·tebuconazole,thiophanate-methyl,pyraclostrobin and carbendazim, had the best inhibitory effect on sorghum anthracnose with EC50 values ranging from 0.018 0 μg/mL to 0.109 7 μg/mL.Control efficacy tests showed that trifloxystrobin·tebuconazole 75%WG,thiophanate-methyl 70%WP and pyraclostrobin 250 g/L EC had better effect in field, with efficacies of 61.86%,56.09%and 54.80%,respectively,indicating that these fungicides are potential candidates for the control of sorghum anthracnose in sorghum production.
