Morphological and molecular characteristics of two intercepted spiral nematodes(Hopolaimidae)
Two species of spiral nematode were intercepted from the rhizosphere of Acer palmatum Thumb.im-ported from the Netherlands, which were identified as Helicotylenchus microcephalus Sher and Rotylenchus ro-bustus(Thorne)Loof &Oostenbrink, respectively, based on both morphological and molecular characteristics. There are no reports on these two species in the Netherlands. It was also the first record on the damage of two nematodes on A.palmatum.The 50:1 population proportion of two nematodes indicated that H.microcephalus was the predominant ones. Finally, the obviously pathological symptoms were observed on the roots of A.pal-matum.
