Abstract

Weigela florida is one of the main early spring shrub in north China and plays an important role in the construction of modern urban parks.In August 2022,a severe outbreak of leaf spot was observed on W.florida in the flower garden of Daoxianghu park,Beijing.The fungus was isolated by tissue separation method,and its pathogenicity was confirmed based on the Koch's postulates.According to morphological features and phylogenetic analyses of rDNA-ITS,Alt a 1,GAPDH,endoPG,EFl-α and RPB2 genes,the pathogen was identified as Alterna-ria alternata.To our knowledge,this is the first report of A.alternata causing leaf spot on W.florida in China,which will provide scientific basis for effective control of the disease on W.florida.
