Operation selection and relative effect on severe liver injuries
Objectives To evaluate the effects and modes of surgical operation on severe liver injuries. Methods This is a retrospective, observational study, on 68 severe cases of 252 liver injuries patients undergoing surgical operation admitted to the Shanghai 5th hospital affiliated to Fudan University from January 2003 through December 2012. The severity of liver injuries was classified according to the 1994 revised Organ Injury Scaling Committee of AAST (American Association for the Surgery of Trauma). Results 54 cases were cured,27 cases of which with the complication. The left 14 cases died. The modes of operation of these cases were listed as fol owing: pediculated tamponment of greater omentum, haematoma debridement together with ruptured vessels and biliry ducts suturation, anatomic or nonanatomic liver resection. Conclusions The effects of treatment on liver injuries patients depends on which grade it is divided into and the appropriate operation selection.Adequate, rapid, right operation can effectively rescue patients’ lives, reduce the incidence of complication and mortality rate.
