Objective: To investigate impact of antipsychotic drugs on mental patients lipids, blood glucose and the obesity. Methods: 110 cases of patients with psychosis in our hospital from June 2010 to November 2012 were selected as study,treated by antipsychotics drugs for 10 weeks. Changes in blood lipids , blood glucose, obesity indicators before and after treatment were compared. Results: After treatment,the weight(70.5±12.6)kg, blood glucose levels (5.4±0.9) mmol / L , and triglyceride levels (1.8±1.2) mmol / L of 110 patients with psychosis were significantly higher than that of before treatment(P<0.01). Conclusion: Antipsychotics drugs can increase blood sugar , lipid metabolism of psychiatric patients and make patients prone to obesity.
