Objective To analyze the Epidemiological Characteristics of the outbreaks of infectious diseases at schools in Liyang, to provide a scientific basis for prevention and control of the outbreaks. Methods The data col ected from Management information system for public health emergencies and field epidemiology survey data were used to analyze the distribution by descriptive epidemiological method. Results A total of 14 outbreaks of infectious diseases at schools were reported in Liyang during 2008-2013, which caused 281 diseases and the average rate of 1.56%, but no death. The major infectious diseases were varicella, rubel a, mumps and influenza. Rural schools in attack rate was higher than the city average(χ2=44.63, P<0.01). Typical y peaks were from April to June and September. Conclusions Rural schools is the key of prevention and control of infectious diseases. We should strengthen the propaganda and education, Efforts to promote disease prevention consciousness of students and parents, And actively carry out targeted vaccination.
