Investigation and analysis of colege students' health knowledge about diabetes
To investigate the health knowledge of colege students about diabetes,and promote their self-health awareness and responsibility for propaganda of popular science. METHODS: We have conducted a questionnaire survey of nearly 400 undergraduate students at Nantong University, 389 questionnaires were distributed , the content covers respondents' sex, age, education, whether suffering from diabetes, with or without family history, as wel as knowledge about diabetes, etc. And we have counted and analyzed the result of investigation. RESULTS: A total of 372 valid questionnaires were retrieved, the effective rate of questionnaires is 95.63%. 14.52% of respondents have never participated in the medical examination, and 94.09% of people think that scientific diet, moderate exercise (87.36%), regular blood glucose monitoring (81.18%), rational application of hypoglycemic drugs (68.82%) and receiving health education (52.15%) are beneficial to people with diabetes. 43.55% of people know about types of diabetes, and 26.34% of people know about the concept of"honeymoon period" of diabetes. CONCLUSIONS: Education of health knowledge about diabetes benefits the country and people. And training medical personnel, patients, and colege students as wel as popularizing knowledge of health knowledge about diabetes are important to early detection, scientific treatment and management of diabetes. They can minimize the incidence of diabetic complications, reduce rate of disability and mortality, and improve people's quality of life.
