Ips montanus (Eichhoff 1881) is an important quarantine pest of entrying plants in China,which can severely attack plants such as pinus.This paper introduces its taxonomy,geographic distribution,biology,and how to discriminate Ips montanus from its similar species.While there is no distribution in our country,so it has important reference significance to prevent it by researching more about this pest.
