Review on the control of the red imported fire ants according to law
Red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta Buren)was found in China in 2004,which have not only caused a serious threat to agricultural production and ecological environment,but also posed a threat to human health.Since then,the stakeholders from various departments of government and plant quarantine,institutions of science,technology and education,as well as relevant enterprises and farmers in the infested regions have been jointly working for strategies and tactics that can effectively control spread and damage of the ant.The present article provides a review on the determining of the quarantine status of the ant,the transparency of the control work,the financial support of the quarantine control ,the collaboration of different departments and the reaction of the emergency events.The previous work and experience indicates that it is important to make decision according to law and based on science,to have greater transparency,to have necessary financial support ,to collaborate with related departments and to establish an emergency response mechanism for the effective control of the quarantine pest.The work and experience of the control of red imported fire ant is also very useful reference to other quarantine pest control according to law.
