Morphological identification of the seeds of Thelepogon elegans Roth,Aegilops cylindrica Host and Aegilops tauschii Coss.
Thelepogon elegans Roth(Poaceae:Thelepogon Roth)is a grass native to tropical Africa and Southeast Asia.It is a noxious weed that invades farmland, grasslands and pastures.Aegilops cylindrica Host and Aegilops tauschii Coss.are two quarantine weeds belonging to the genus Goatgrass of the Gramineae family. The seeds of these three exotic weeds often enter our country with the trade of im-ported cereals and oil crops, and they are often intercepted. The seed size and external morphology of the three plants are similar, and they are easy to be confused. At present, there are no distribution reports of verruca genus in China, and there are no reference plants and fruit specimens. In order to provide the-oretical basis and technical support for port quarantine identification, morphological studies were carried out to distinguish the main identification features of the three seeds-spikelet,florets and caryopsis.
