The oviposition selection and boring damage of Cydia pomonella on 9 kinds of pear varieties
Codling moth is a major agricultural pest affecting the production of fruit trees and is a worldwide quarantine pest.In this paper, the main biological parameters of codling moth on different pear varieties were obtained by egg-laying selection and growth and development experiments of codling moth on the fruits of nine pear varieties. The results showed that different pear varieties have a significant ef-fect on the egg production, egg hatching rate, larval fruit-boring rate and egg stage of codling moth.A-mong the nine pear varieties, adult codling moth had the highest egg-laying preference for Rushan fra-grant pear(8.64 eggs/fruit),followed by Gaomi pear(5.07 eggs/fruit);The egg hatching rates of the Guanxian pear and the Qiuyang pear were relatively low, being 6.95%and 8.04%respectively;The larval fruit-boring rate of Gaomi pear was the highest at 28.89%,followed by Rushan fragrant pear, which was 19.44%.Overall,it can be concluded that codling moth had low adaptability on Qiuyang pear and Guanxian pear, but high adaptability on Gaomi pear and Rushan fragrant pear. The research results of this article provide theoretical support for the sustained and effective control of codling moth in the field.
