Analysis of serum miR-23a and miR-143 expression and correlation with insulin resistance in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome
Objective:To investigate the expression of serum micro-RNA-23a(miR-23a)and micro-RNA-143(miR-143)in pa-tients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)and its correlation with insulin resistance.Methods:68 PCOS patients(PCOS group)and 50 women(control group)admitted to Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital of Zaozhuang from January 2022 to June 2023 were selected as study subjects.Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR(qRT-PCR)was used to test serum miR-23a and miR-143 expression.PCOS patients were divided into insulin resistance groups(HOMA-IR≥ 2.69)and 28 cases in non-insulin resistance groups(HOMA-IR<2.69)according to the insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR≥2.69)and 28 cases in the non-insulin resistance group(HOMA-IR<2.69)were compared.Serum miR-23a and miR-143 expression levels were used, and the correlation between serum miR-23a and miR-143 expression and insulin resistance was analyzed using Pearson correlation. Results:The expression levels of serum miR-23a and miR-143 in PCOS group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).The expression levels of serum miR-23a and miR-143 in PCOS patients in insulin resistance group were higher than those in non-insulin resistance group(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the expression levels of serum miR-23a and miR-143 were positively correlated with HOMA-IR in PCOS patients(P<0.05).Conclusion:The serum miR-23a and miR-143 of PCOS patients are all abnormally highly expressed, and the expression levels are related to HOMA-IR,which can be used as effective biological markers for the evaluation of PCOS conditions.
