Correlation between serum Klotho protein levels and inflammatory factors in patients with schizophrenia
Objective:To observe the serum Klotho protein level and its correlation with inflammatory factors in patients with schizophrenia. Methods:A total of 45 patients with schizophrenia(observation group)and 45 healthy controls(control group)were enrolled, the severity of mental symptoms was assessed by the positive and negative symptom scale(PANSS),the serum levels of Klotho protein and inflammatory factors IL-6 and IL-10 in all subjects were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),and other inflammatory and anti-inflammatory indexes were determined by automatic hematology analyzer and biochemical analyzer. Results:The serum level of Klotho protein in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The inflammatory indexes IL-6,WBC,CRP,MONO,NLR and MLR in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),and the HNR was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in the inflammatory indexes IL-10 and PLR between the two groups.Correlation analysis showed that serum Klotho protein levels were positively correlated with inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and NLR in patients with schizophrenia(r=0.517,P<0.001;r=0.330,P<0.05).Conclusion:The expression of Klotho protein in patients with schizophrenia is abnormal, and it is related to inflammatory factors, and Klotho protein may be involved in the neuroinflammatory response process of schizophrenia.
