The Measures and Experiences of New York City's Carbon Reduction Strategy
In order to mitigate the impact of climate change and make New York a more livable and fair city,the New York City government takes carbon emission reduction as an important part of its municipal management,and gives strong support to carbon emission reduction from the aspects of policy,capital,person-nel training and technology.Through the development of regulations and strategic planning,New York City has set targets and roadmap for carbon emission reduction,providing solid policy support for carbon emission re-duction.New York City's carbon reduction strategy is characterized by environmental justice,universal partici-pation,and strict accountability and transparency measures.New York City has adopted a series of effective carbon reduction measures to achieve its carbon reduction goals:first,vigorously develop climate finance,for-mulate climate budget,and incorporate climate goals into the daily operation and financial budget of the city;Reorient public pension funds to climate considerations;Set up climate finance projects to provide financing services for building energy efficiency improvement,clean energy and clean transportation.The second is to strengthen the construction of talent team,pay attention to the development of green labor force,conduct tar-geted training for energy personnel,issue qualification certification,and set up a"chief carbon reduction offi-cer of the institution"to provide human support for the smooth implementation of climate projects.Third,ac-tively promote the pilot work of carbon reduction technology innovation,and promote the transformation and application of relevant scientific and technological achievements.The fourth is to promote energy conservation and carbon reduction through the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy,reducing greenhouse gas emis-sions from buildings,promoting the electrification of urban transportation and encouraging green travel,and pro-moting technological innovation in sewage and solid waste treatment.
