Physiological Response ofScutellaria baicalensis Seed Germination and Seed-ling to Exogenous Ascorbic Acid under Salt Stress
Seed germination and seedling physiological characteristics ofScutellaria baicalensis were studied with exogenous ascorbic acid under NaCl stress by paper germination. The results showed that seed germina-tion and seedling physiological characteristics ofS. baicalensis were signiifcantly inhibitied under 80 mmol·L-1 NaCl stress. Compared with NaCl stress, germination energy, germination rate, germination index, simpliifed vigor index, total lfavonoids content, soluble sugar content and proline content, SOD activity in roots and root vigor were signiifcantly improved with 0.50 mmol·L-1 ascorbic acid, as well as MDA content was signiifcantly reduced. The above results indicated that seed germination and seedling growth ofS. baicalensis were improved by the optimum concentration of exogenous ascorbic acid to alleviate the inhibitory effect under NaCl stress.
