Effects of different slow-release nitrogen fertilizer application rates on yield and starch quality in Nelumbo nucifera
In order to study the effects of different slow-release nitrogen application rates on yield and starch content in Nelumbo nucifera, the variety'MRH'was used as the material under treatment of conven-tional nitrogen fertilizer and slow-release nitrogen fertilizer with five different application rates(R1-R5).Then,the photosynthetic characteristics of leaves, rhizomes yield, starch content, activities of starch syn-thesis related enzymes and expression levels of related genes were tested. The experimental results showed that the application of slow-release nitrogen fertilizer could improve the development and photo-synthetic characteristics of leaves during the whole growth period.Especially,R3 treatment had the most significant effect on the photosynthetic characteristics. The yield of rhizome, the content of starch and the number of starch granule also reached the maximum under R3 treatment. The activities of granule-bound starch synthase(GBSS),starch branching enzyme(SBE)and soluble starch synthase(SSS)in R3 treat-ment were significantly higher than those of other treatments. The expression levels of starch synthe-sis-related genes could be maintained high level under R3 treatment. In conclusion, the application of slow-release nitrogen fertilizer can improve the photosynthetic characteristics of leaves and thus increase the yield and starch content of N.nucifera, among which the improvement effect of R3 is the most signifi-cant,which can be used and popularized in the actual production process.
