Effects of different light qualities on seedlings growth and physiological indicators associated with throns of Gleditsia sinensis
To explore suitable light sources for cultivating strong seedlings and promoting thorn develop-ment of Gleditsia sinensis, the study conducted different light treatments on the seedlings of G.sinensis, including red light, blue light, mixed light(7 red∶3 blue),and white light(control). And the growth and phys-iological indicators of seedlings and thorns of G.sinensis at different developmental stages were mea-sured,in order to select a favorable light environment for the growth of thorns. The results indicated that red light and mixed light promoted the stem diameter growth of G.sinensis seedlings and the morphologi-cal growth of G.sinensis thorns,as well as the accumulation of dry matter, soluble sugar content, and leaf starch content in G.sinensis thorns.Under the blue light treatment, the soluble sugar content of both the spine stem segments and spineless stem segments of G.sinensis seedlings significantly increased com-pared to the white light treatment,by 19.53%and 20.86%respectively.Additionally,the starch content of both the spine and spineless stem segments of G.sinensis seedlings significantly increased under blue light and mixed light treatments compared to the white light treatment, with increments of 51.17%and 37.56%,and 54.84%and 34.29%respectively.This indicated that under light quality treatments, the soluble sugar content of spine stem segments of G.sinensis seedlings was higher than that of spineless stem segments, while the starch content exhibited the opposite trend. In conclusion, red light and mixed light promoted the morphological growth and accumulation of dry matter in G.sinensis thorns.Blue light,on the other hand, increased the content of flavonoids and total phenols.Red light, blue light, and mixed light all stimulated the accumulation of soluble sugar content in G.sinensis.Using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, the mixed light treatment obtained the highest comprehensive score for G.sinensis thorns. These research findings provide theoretical basis and technical guidance for the future breeding and cultivation of G.sinensis.
