Research advances on the carbon-nitrogen metabolic interaction mechanisms in cereal crops
Carbon metabolism and nitrogen metabolism are fundamental processes in cereal crops,collec-tively determining the yield and quality of the crops. This article reviews the recent research progress on the carbon-nitrogen interaction mechanism in cereal crops, focusing on rice, wheat, and maize. The analy-sis explores the potential interactions between carbon metabolism and nitrogen metabolism in cereal crops, highlighting the roles of key factors such as carbon-nitrogen ratio,α-ketoglutaric acid, transporter proteins, and transcription factors in mediating the interplay between carbon and nitrogen metabolism.Additionally,it outlines future research directions in understanding carbon-nitrogen interactions in cereal crops, with the goal of guiding efforts to enhance crop yield and quality through the regulation and balance of carbon and nitrogen.
