Effects of NaCl stress on physiological and biochemical characteristics and compartmental allocation of mineral element of Juglans major seedlings
In order to provide a theoretical basis for screening salt-tolerant walnut rootstocks, the seedlings of Juglans major were treated with salt stress, and changes in physiological and biochemical indexes and mineral elements were measured in different time after treatment. The results showed that with the in-crease of NaCl concentration, the biomass of all parts of the seedlings and leaf relative water content tended to decrease, and malondialdehyde content increased;soluble protein content showed a decreasing trend, and proline and soluble sugar accumulated significantly;total phenols, total flavonoids and antioxi-dant enzyme activities increased compared with the control;and inhibited the synthesis of indole-3-acetic acid and others while promoting abscisic acid production.Under salt stress,Na accumulated more in the roots, while K accumulated more in the leaves, and K/Na ratio was significantly reduced in both leaves and roots;Ca and Mg contents in leaves and roots generally remained relatively stable with little variation, while Fe,Zn and Cu contents generally showed a decreasing trend. It indicated that J.major seedlings under salt stress were able to alleviate the damage and inhibition of salt stress on the plant body by increasing the con-tent of osmotic regulation substances, improving the activities of antioxidant enzymes, regulating their own hormone balance, maintaining the ability of nutrient uptake, and other protective mechanisms.
