Research on Spatial Design of Community-based Elderly Care Facilities under the Concept of Healing Environment
The spatial design of elderly care facilities based on the concept of healing environment emphasizes"human-centeredness",and through optimizing spatial elements to support the physical health and emotional well-being of the elderly, the space can perform the function of healing and improve the health and quality of life of the elderly.Firstly, based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, author analyzes the multi-dimensional healing needs of the elderly, and take the improvement of the elderly's autonomy, the alleviation of their mental stress, and the enhancement of their social connections as the design objectives.Secondly, the healing mechanism of the environment and the healing elements in the environment are clarified. The design strategy is oriented to the needs of the elderly and combines the healing elements, and the specific design methods are explained with case studies. Finally, the design strategy of Community-based Elderly Care Facilities under the concept of healing environment is constructed,i.e.,optimizing spatial elements to provide autonomy support, providing emotional support by bringing in natural elements, and improving social support by putting in humanistic elements.
