The Characteristics,Roots,and Spiritual Power of a New Form of Human Advancement:From the Perspective of the Relationship between Virtue and Rationality
The spiritual power of the new civilization of China comes from an integration of Marxism and fine traditional Chinese culture.This new form of human advancement is consistent with China's traditional civilization of virtues with regard to its fundamental characteristics,its cultural roots and humanistic spirit,as well as its emphasis on historical destiny of the Chinese national community.However,such a new form of human advancement is in no way a mere product of"reviving"or"returning to"the traditional Chinese civilization of virtues,but rather a"renewal of civilization"in the sense of giving rise to"a unified new culture".The aforesaid new form of human advancement has a new power of enlightening and awakening humanity in the dual sense of morality and truth,and exemplarily reveals a new direction of human progress from a civilization of rationality to a civilization of virtues.
