A Constructivist Defense of Human Enhancement Technology:Focusing on the Issue of Social Equality
Human enhancement technologies often spark concerns about exacerbating social inequality. However, from a constructivist perspective, human existence is a dynamic process of self-creation,and enhancement technologies are a natural extension of humanity's ongoing efforts at self-improvement.The extended mind thesis further dissolves the division between"external nature"and"inner nature",suggesting that there is no fundamental difference between traditional and modern forms of enhancement. While these technologies challenge conventional boundaries between chance and choice, they also inspire innovative frameworks for constructing just social institutions. The unease they provoke stems from the inadequacy of traditional political philosophy in addressing this redefined landscape, whearas they actually offer new possibilities for equity and justice.
