Adding Symptom Clusters to Chinese Medicine Efficacy Evaluation System for Overlapping Symptoms in Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders
Functional gastrointestinal disorders(FGIDs)are the dominant diseases treated by Chinese medicine(CM),and its clinical diagnosis and treatment are based on symptomatology. The efficacy evaluation of overlapping gastrointestinal symptoms in FGIDs is different from that of a single disease or a single symptom, and a high-quality clinical efficacy evaluation tool in clinical studies of overlapping symptoms in the treatment of CM is still lacking. The symptom cluster indicator, which is aligned with both the clinical realities of CM treatments for overlapping symptoms in FGIDs and the demands of modern medicine for evaluation instruments, has been used in several clinical studies.By expounding upon the concept of symptom clusters, its formulation methodologies, and the feasibility of the overlapping symptoms of FGIDs,this paper aims to explore the viability of integrating symptom clusters into the clinical efficacy evaluation system of CM treatments for these conditions,so as to develop a characteristic clinical efficacy evaluation tool for CM treatment of overlapping symptoms of FGIDs.
