Study on the Color of Lips and Tongue of Rats with Chronic Heart Failure Intervened by Guizhi Fuling Pills Combined with Wuling Powder
Objective To observe the effect of Guizhi Fuling Pills combined with Wuling Powder in intervening the lip and tongue color of rats with chronic heart failure.Methods Chronic heart failure model was constructed by intraperitoneal injection of azithromycin.Twenty chronic heart failure rats were randomly divided into low,medium and high dose groups and model group,5 in each group,Another 6 SD rats were selected as normal group.The normal and model groups were gavaged with 2 mL of distilled water,and the intervention group was administered with Guizhi Fuling Pills combined with Wuling Powder 1,1.5,and 2 mL once daily for 4 weeks,respectively.Weight,whole ventricular weight,left ventricular weight,and fourth rib length were measured in each group;serum arginine vasopressin(AVP)and brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)levels were detected.Images of the lips and tongue of the rats in each group were collected and analyzed by chromatographic red(R),green(G),blue(B)trichromatic analysis.Results Compared with the normal group,the model group had lower body weight,left ventricular weight,and fourth rib length,higher serum AVP and BNP levels,and lip color G and B values(P＜0.05).Compared with the model group,weight,whole ventricular weight,left ventricular weight,and fourth rib length increased in the medium-dose and high-dose groups,and serum AVP,BNP levels,and lip color G and B values decreased in the low-dose,medium-dose,and high-dose group(P＜0.05).Compared with the low-dose group,weight,left ventricular weight,and fourth rib length increased in the middle-dose and high-dose group(P＜0.05),whole ventricular weight increased in the high-dose group,and serum AVP,BNP levels,and lip color G and B values were decreased(P＜0.05).Conclusions The color of the lips and tongue of rats with chronic heart failure was purplish and dark with petechiae and no luster.Guizhi Fuling Pills combined with Wuling Powder could alleviate the rat chronic heart failure and color of the lips and tongue.
