Acupuncture and moxibustion,as an external treatment method, requires specific implementation on certain acupoints or specific areas of the human body.Based on clinical practice and teaching experience, the authors propose that modern anatomy knowledge is of great significance for studying acupuncture theory and clinical practice.Specifically,it includes the following aspects:Facilitating the depiction of meridian pathways;Facilitating precise localization of acupoints;Assisting in determining acupuncture techniques;Clarifying the sensation and response under the needle;Aiding in understanding the main functions of acupoints;Guiding the selection of acupoints in clinical practice;Assisting in assessing the severity and prognosis of diseases;Providing warnings and contraindications for acupuncture treatment. In the teaching of science of acupuncture and moxibustion, teachers should appropriately integrate relevant knowledge from Western anatomy knowledge to enhance the teaching effectiveness and achieve better results.
