Effect of moxibustion, cupping combined with auricular acupuncture on lumbar mobility in patients with liver and kidney deficiency type lumbar disc herniation
Objective To explore the effects of combined application of moxibustion, cupping, and auricular acupuncture on lumbar mobility and daily living ability in patients with liver and kidney deficiency type lumbar disc herniation. Methods A total of 102 patients with liver and kidney deficiency type lumbar disc herniation admitted to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department and Special Outpatient Department of Yancheng NO.1 People's Hospital from January 2021 to December 2022 were divided into a control group(51 cases)and an observation group(51 cases)using a random number table method. The control group received routine rehabilitation care, while the observation group received a combination of moxibustion, cupping, and auricular acupuncture on the basis of routine rehabilitation care.Lumbar mobility, lumbar spine function, pain, and daily living ability were compared between the two groups. Results After 1 week,2 weeks, and 4 weeks of intervention, the measurement values of lumbar flexion and extension range of motion,as well as the Oswestry Disability Index,Visual Analogue Scale, and Activities of Daily Living Scale scores in the observation group were better than those in the control group, and both groups were better than those at admission, with statistical differences(all P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of moxibustion, cupping, and auricular acupuncture can effectively alleviate lumbar pain in patients with liver and kidney deficiency type lumbar disc herniation. It has a prominent effect on improving lumbar function and lumbar mobility, and can also enhance daily living abilities.
