Effect of nursing based on Snyder's hope theory on patients undergoing radical surgery of esophageal cancer
Objective To explore the implementation effect of nursing based on Snyder's hope theory on patients undergoing radical surgery of esophageal cancer.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 100 patients who underwent radical surgery of esophageal cancer at Renji Hospital,Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine from February to December 2022.They were grouped according to different nursing methods.The 51 patients who adopted routine perioperative nursing were included in the control group,while the 49 patients who adopted nursing based on Snyder's hope theory were included in the observation group.The hope level,stress response,incidence of complications,and postoperative recovery of the two groups were compared.Results At 1 day before surgery and 3 days after surgery,the 3 dimension scores of the Herth Hope Index(HHI)in both groups were improved compared with admission(all P<0.05),and the observation group had higher scores than the control group(all P<0.05).After surgery and at 1 day after surgery,the heart rate of the observation group was slower than that of the control group,and the systolic and diastolic blood pressure were lower than those of the control group(all P<0.05).The total incidence of complications in the observation group was 4.08%,which was significantly lower than 17.65%in the control group(P<0.05).The frequency of postoperative analgesics usage in the observation group was less than that in the control group,and the time to postoperative exhaust,time to mediastinal drainage tube removal,and length of hospital stay were shorter(all P<0.05).Conclusion Nursing based on Snyder's hope theory has a positive impact on improving the hope level,alleviating the stress response,reducing the incidence of complications,and accelerating the postoperative recovery in patients undergoing radical surgery of esophageal cancer.
