Effect of semi-structured interview combined with empowering education on self-efficacy and life meaning cognition in patients undergoing radical resection of advanced gastric cancer
Objective To explore the effect of semi-structured interview combined with empowering education on the self-efficacy and life meaning cognition of patients undergoing radical resection of advanced gastric cancer.Methods A total of 240 advanced gastric cancer patients who were treated by radical gastrectomy in the Department of Gastroenterology of Gansu Wuwei Tumor Hospital from January to December 2022 were enrolled.All patients were assigned to either an empowering group or an interview group through simple randomization,with 120 cases in each group.The empowering group was given conventional empowering education,and the interview group was given semi-structured interview combined with empowering education.The changes of psychological pressure were compared between the two groups.Results After intervention,the scores of the Self-Rating Anxiety and Depression Scale and the Piper Fatigue Scale in both groups were significantly decreased compared with those before intervention,and the scores of the General Self-Efficacy Scale and the Meaning in Life Questionnaire-Presence of Meaning were significantly increased compared with those before intervention(all P<0.05).The interview group performed better than the empowering group(all P<0.05).Conclusion Semi-structured interview combined with empowering education can effectively relieve the negative emotions and fatigue,and enhance the self-efficacy and life meaning cognition in patients undergoing radical resection of advanced gastric cancer.
