Application of COPE nursing model in perioperative period of children with hypospadias and its impact on psychological state of family members
Objective To explore the effect of nursing model of Creating Opportunities for Parent Empowerment(COPE)on the perioperative period of children with hypospadias and its impact on the psychological state of family members. Methods One hundred children with hypospadias admitted to Xiamen Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2020 to January 2023 were recruited, and their clinical data were retrospectively analyzed. The enrolled children were grouped using a random number table, with 50 cases in the control group receiving routine nursing and 50 cases in the observation group receiving routine nursing and COPE nursing. The basic surgical conditions,Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores, and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups of children, and the psychological state(Self-Rating Anxiety Scale[SAS]and Self-Rating Depression Scale[SDS]scores)were compared between the two groups of family members. Results Compared with the control group, the children of the observation group had shorter time to urethral catheter removal, time to first bowel movement, and length of hospital stay,as well as a lower overall incidence of complications(all P<0.05).The VAS scores of children in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at 3,7,and 14 days postoperatively(all P<0.05),and both groups had lower VAS scores at the above time points than at 1 day postoperatively(all P<0.05).The SAS and SDS scores of family members in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group after 14 days of nursing(both P<0.05),and both groups had lower scores after 14 days of nursing than before nursing(all P<0.05).Conclusion The COPE nursing for perioperative children with hypospadias can significantly promote their postoperative recovery, alleviate their pain, reduce the incidence of complications, and alleviate the negative emotions of family members.
