Application effect of touch combined with acupoint massage in newborns
Objective To analyze the effect of touch combined with acupoint massage on the digestive function, growth and development indicators, neurobehavioral status, and incidence of feeding intolerance in newborns. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the baseline data of 97 newborns born in the obstetrical department at Zhangjiagang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2021 to March 2023.They were allocated into a control group(49 cases)and an observation group(48 cases)according to different nursing measures. The control group carried out breast milk oral immunity combined with oral exercises, while the observation group carried out touch nursing combined with acupoint massage based on the intervention measures of the control group. The digestive function, growth and development indicators, neurobehavioral status, and incidence of feeding intolerance of the two groups of newborns were compared. Results The daily defecation frequency and daily milk gain of the observation group were better than those of the control group, and the time of complete meconium evacuation and full enteral feeding was earlier than that of the control group(all P<0.05).At 1 month after birth, the body length, weight, and head circumference of the observation group were greater than those of the control group(all P<0.05).At 1 month after birth, the scores of active muscle tone, behavioral ability, passive muscle tone, primitive reflexes, and general responses in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(all P<0.05).The total incidence of feeding intolerance in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Touch nursing combined with acupoint massage for newborns has a positive effect on improving the digestive function and neurobehavioral status, reducing the occurrence of feeding intolerance, and promoting the growth and development.
