Application effect of traditional Chinese medicine comprehensive intervention combined with health education in elderly patients with constipation of yang deficiency type
Objective To explore the application effect of traditional Chinese medicine comprehensive intervention combined with health education in elderly patients with constipation of yang deficiency type.Methods A total of 110 elderly patients with constipation of yang deficiency type admitted to the Department of Internal Medicine of Shanghai Pudong New Area Guangming Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from July 2021 to July 2023 were selected as the study subjects.They were divided into a control group(55 cases who received conventional medication and nursing)and an observation group(55 cases who received conventional medication and nursing+traditional Chinese medicine comprehensive intervention combined with health education)by the use of a random number table.The clinical efficacy,bowel movements,traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores,stool traits,and improvement in quality of life were compared between the two groups.Results The total clinical effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(96.36%vs.87.27%,P＜0.05).After 4 weeks of intervention,the bowel movement time of the observation group was earlier than that of the control group,and the frequency of normal bowel movements per week was greater than that of the control group(both P＜0.05).The bowel movement of both groups was better than that before intervention(all P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the observation group had higher stool trait scores and lower traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores and Patient Assessment of Constipation-Quality of Life Scale(PAC-QOL)scores after 4 weeks of intervention(all P＜0.05).Both groups had better scores compared with those before intervention(all P＜0.05).Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine comprehensive intervention combined with health education has shown a good therapeutic effect on elderly patients with constipation of yang deficiency type,which can promote the bowel movements,improve the constipation and stool traits,and enhance the quality of life.
