Clinical Study on Qingfei Huatan Formula in the Treatment of Elderly Community Acquired Pneumonia
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of Qingfei Huatan formula in the treatment of elderly community acquired pneumonia. Methods A total of 84 elderly patients with community acquired pneumonia were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group, with 42 cases in each group. The control group was treated with moxifloxacin, while the treatment group was treated with traditional Chinese medi-cine Qingfei Huatan formula on the basis of the control group. Both groups were treated for 14 days. The disap-pearance time of fever, cough, sputum, lung rales, and chest X-ray shadows in two groups were compared. The changes of inflammatory indicators such as white blood-cell count(WBC),C-reactive protein(CRP),procalcitonin(PCT),interleukin-6(IL-6)before and after treatment were measured and compared. At the same time, the total clinical effective rate and incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups were also compared. Results After treat-ment,the total effective rate of the treatment group was 92.86%,and the total effective rate of the control group was 66.67%.The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).The disappearance time of fever, cough, sputum, lung rales, and chest X-ray shadows in the treatment group were significantly shorter than those in the control group(P all<0.01).The levels of inflammatory factors such as WBC,CRP,IL-6,and PCT in both groups were all lower than before(P all<0.01),and the above indicators in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P all<0.01).There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Qingfei Huatan formula had a definite clinical efficacy in the treatment of elderly community acquired pneumonia, which could significantly improve clinical symptoms and reduce the levels of inflammatory factors.
