Clinical Efficacy Analysis of Baicalin as an Adjuvant Therapy for Glaucoma
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of baicalin as an adjuvant therapy for glaucoma. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 72 glaucoma patients, who were divided into two groups according to the treatment method.A total of 36 cases(36 eyes)in the observation group were treated with baicalin and brinzolamide eye drops, while 36 cases(36 eyes)in the control group were only treated with brinzo-lamide eye drops. Both groups were treated continuously for 4 weeks. The total clinical effective rate and changes of the intraocular pressure, corrected visual acuity, and ocular hemodynamic parameters before and after treatment in the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the total clinical effective rate of the observation group was 94.44%,which was significantly higher than the 77.78%of the control group(P<0.05).The intraocular pressure of both groups decreased compared to those before treatment(P all<0.05),and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05).The corrected visual acuity of both groups increased compared to those before treatment(P all<0.05),and the observation group was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05).The average visual field defect in both groups decreased compared to those before treat-ment(P all<0.05),and the light sensitivity increased(P all<0.05).And the average visual field defect in the ob-servation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the light sensitivity was sig-nificantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The hemodynamic indicators of peak systolic velocity(PSV)and end diastolic velocity(EDV)of the central retinal artery(CRA)in the two groups were significantly high-er than those before treatment(P all<0.05),while the above indicators in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P all<0.05).The resistance index(RI)of CRA in the two groups decreased(P all<0.05),and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Baicalin as an adjuvant therapy for glaucoma could achieve more satisfactory therapeutic effects, which also amelio-rate eye hemodynamic parameters, reduce intraocular pressure, and improve corrected visual acuity.
