Research on the Practices to Overcome Career and Technical Education Silo from the Perspective of Employability Skills Framework in America
The career and technical education of America,while playing an important role in cultivating vocational talents,has shown a trend towards the isolation of cognition,curriculum and career preparation,which is called the CTE silo.The Employability Skills Framework,consisting of three dimensions:applied knowledge,effective relationships and workplace skills,tries to help CTE students strengthen the integration with other types of education and the connection with workplaces,to overcome the CTE silo and make students fully prepared for further education and employment.The New York State's practice of Career Development and Occupational Studies focuses on organizational models,teaching standards,growth paths,and through-type training modes so as to improve students'employment skills both on applied knowledge,effective relationships and workplace skills.The practice of America to promote the connection between different types of education,to make an integration of CTE and academic curriculums,and to align the education system with labor market needs can provide a reference for the integration of general and vocational education and high-quality development of vocational education in China.
