Influence of Perceived Social Support on Prosocial Behavior among Secondary Vocational Students:The Chain Mediation Role of Hope and Gratitude
From a positive psychology perspective, this study explores the mechanism by which perceived social support influences prosocial behavior among secondary vocational students.Using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, the Perceived Social Support Scale, the Hope Scale, and the Gratitude Scale,a cluster sampling method was employed to conduct a survey among students from 11 secondary vocational schools in Changsha,Hunan Province, resulting in 1734 valid questionnaires. The study results indicate that perceived social support, hope, and gratitude are significantly positively correlated with prosocial behavior among secondary vocational students.Perceived social support can directly influence prosocial behavior and indirectly influence it through the partial mediating roles of hope or gratitude.Additionally,it can affect prosocial behavior through the chain mediation of hope and gratitude.Based on these findings,it is suggested that providing comprehensive social support to secondary vocational students, integrating intellectual and psychological education to enhance students'levels of hope, and incorporating gratitude education to strengthen students'sense of gratitude can help promote more prosocial behaviors among students.
