Connotation,Challenges and Optimization Pathways for the Diversified Development of Upper Secondary Education under the Background of Vocational-general Education Integration
The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China emphasized the"promotion of diversified development in high school education".This statement differs from the frequently mentioned"diversification of general high schools"in past policy documents,as its meaning and scope are both broader, encompassing all forms of high school education, including both general high schools and vocational schools.Given the series of practical challenges faced by the diversified development of high schools in China, such as the homogenization of general high schools, the uniformity of evaluation and assessment standards, and the lack of autonomy in school management, this paper explores the optimization pathways for diversified development from the perspective of coordinated development between vocational and general education:enriching the types of school management to break through the bottlenecks of integration between vocational and general education;optimizing the school classification and evaluation system to encourage the implementation of comprehensive education;and advancing the reform of educational management mechanism to grant schools'greater autonomy in their operations.
