On the Significant Influence of the Central Plains Culture in the Civilization Progress of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, located in China's southwest frontier, has an important strategic position. Historically,it has been home to various ethnic groups, mainly the Tibetans and the Qiang. Their cultural choices and development are crucial for the formation of a pluralistic and integrated Chinese nation and the long-term stability of China's southwest frontier. In the course of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau's civilization, the culture of central plains has exerted an important influence, fostering a strong centripetal force among the ethnic groups on the plateau. The interplay of these two forces has driven the civilization of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau to develop eastward, and finally merge into the system of Chinese civilization. In the three most important periods of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau's civilization, the prehistoric period, the period of Tubo dynasty and the period after the Yuan dynasty, the influence of the central plains culture has been fully confirmed by archaeological and historical documents.
