Objective Toexplore the trend of hand, foot and mouth disease(HFMD)and its pathogenic characteristics,to provide basis for prevention and control strategies. Methods Data of HFMD in Laizhou City from 2009 to 2022 were collected by using the Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Information System,Excel 2019 and SPSS 20.0 software were used to analyse statistically,x2 test was used to compare the rates, the test level was α=0.05.Results During the study period 2009 to 2022,4 077 cases of HFMD and 20 severe cases were reported in Laizhou City,no deaths. The highest incidence was 82.36/105 in 2011,the lowest incidence was 0.71/105 in 2020.Wenchang Streets,Shahe Town and Chengganglu streets were the highest incidence areas.May to August were the season of high incidence of HFMD,accounted 67.57%of the total cases, the incidence reached the peak in July and rised slightly in November. The concentration M of season was 0.35.The incidence of male was higher than that in female. The under age 3 group accounted for 59.66%of the total cases, and the median age of incidence population was 3.49 years old;The incidence was mainly distributed in scattered children and nursery children, accounted for 51.91%、39.55%,respectively;Hospitalized cases accounted for 21.39%of the total number of cases.Children under 3 years old were the high incidence group of hospitalized cases. The median age of hospitalized cases was 2.29 years old.The main symptoms were fever(72.47%),hand(95.58%),foot rash(87.79%)and buttock(88.31%)disease.The time interval from onset to seeing a doctor was 1.61 days, and the time interval from onset to seeing a doctor was 1.17 days, and the average length of hospitalization was 2.20 days; There were 20 severe cases,90.00%of the total cases were under 3 years old.The time interval from onset to diagnosis was 1.63 days. The main symptoms were fever, low spirits, lethargy and frequent limb tremors during sleep. The average hospital stay was 7.60 days.192 clusters were reported, involving 588 cases, accounted for 14.42%of the.reported cases, with kindergartens accounted for the most(56.77%).Three outbreaks were reported all in kindergartens. All clusters and outbreaks were effectively controlled within 1-2 incubation periods.About 522 positive samples showed that other enteroviruses were predominant in January to April, and Cox A16 was predominant in May to November.EV 71 remained at a low level in Laizhou and it was more active during May to August. Conclusions HFMD causes a certain disease burden among preschool children in Laizhou,in view of the susceptible population and the high incidence season, the epidemic situation monitoring report and publicity and education should be strengthened to improve the EV 71 vaccination rate and personal protection awareness,to reduce the incidence of HFMD,reduce the occurrence of clusters and outbreaks of epidemic.
