Current status and influencing factors of latent tuberculosis infection in freshmen of a vocational college in Meishan in 2023
Objective To investigate the current situation of latent tuberculosis infection(LTBI)among freshmen in a vocational college in Meishan City,to analyze possible influencing factors, and to provide reference for the adjustment of tuberculosis(TB)prevention and control in vocational colleges. Methods The basic information, lifestyle and tuberculosis screening results of freshmen in 2023 in the vocational college in Meishan City were collected.WPS 2022 and were SPSS 23.0 used for data collation.x2 test was used to analyze the difference in LTBI detection rate with different characteristics.Logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of LTBI.The test level was α=0.05.Results A total of 5 552 freshmen were screened, and the screening rate was 100.00%.There were 3 315 male students with a sex ratio of 1.48:1.The majority were Han(5 264 students,94.81%).A total of 329 students(5.93%)came from high incidence areas of tuberculosis. There were 109 smokers, accounting for 1.97%.The proportion of students with previous history of tuberculosis(3 students,0.05%),history of close contact with tuberculosis patients(8 students,0.14%)or suspicious symptoms(11 students,0.20%)was relatively low. Most had received BCG(Bacillus Calmette-Guérin)vaccination(5 488,98.85%)or TB health education(5 274 to students,94.99%).A total of 56 cases of LTBI were detected, the detection rate was 1.01%,and no active pulmonary tuberculosis was found.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that receiving health education(OR=0.311,95%CI:0.135-0.519)was the protective factor for LTBI among freshmen. The students originated from areas with high incidence of tuberculosis(OR=4.213,95%CI:2.963-5.085),had a history of close contact(OR=7.886,95%CI:5.372-9.126),had suspicious symptoms(OR=6.198,95%CI:5.751-8.535),and had a history of smoking(OR=1.295,95%CI:1.081-1.513)were risk factors for LTBI among freshmen. Conclusions The LTBI risk of freshmen in this vocational college was related to the origin of students, smoking, close contact history, suspicious symptoms and receiving health education on TB prevention and control. The screening and consultation of freshmen should be strictly implemented and annual TB screening should be encouraged for students in high-risk areas. At the same time, the publicity of TB prevention and control in schools and World No Tobacco Day should be strengthened to improve the awareness of TB prevention and control among students.
