Epidemic and Etiological Characteristics of HFMD in Banan District of Chongqing from 2014 to 2023
Objective To analyze the epidemic characteristics of hand,foot and mouth disease(HFMD)in Banan District of Chongqing from 2014 to 2023,and to provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control measures of HFMD in Banan district.Methods The HFMD data from Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Information System were collected from 2014 to 2023,descriptive epidemiological analysis and Chi-square test were used to analyze the data.The data was processed by SPSS 26.0 and R 4.1.3 software,the test level α=0.05.Results From 2014 to 2023,a total of HFMD 22 826 cases were reported in Banan District of Chongqing,with the average annual incidence of 213.99/105,and the overall decreasing trend(x2Trend=148.48,P<0.001);From 2014 to 2019,the incidence was higher in even-years and lower in odd-year,the incidence peak was from April to July and from October to November;From 2020 to 2023,the incidence was higher in odd-years and lower in even-years.The incidence was single-peaked within the year.Cases had been reported in 22 towns/streets throughout the district,mainly reported in urban areas and urban fringe,the majority of the patients were scattered children and nursery children;The age of onset was mainly 0-4 years old,the highest group from 1 to 2 years old;738 pathogenic surveillance samples,578 were positive,EV 71 accounted for 15.29%(89/582),Cox A16 accounted for 25.43%(148/582)and other enterovirus types accounted for 59.28%(345/582).Conclusions From 2014 to 2023,the annual average incidence of HFMD in Banan District of Chongqing is on the fluctuating decline.Due to the influence of COVID-19,the incidence of HFMD has changed.In 2023,there was a new peak of incidence,and the focus should be placed on urban and rural fringe areas and children aged 0-4 years.At present,the pathogen of HFMD in Banan district is Cox A16,alternating with other enteric viruses,mainly by other enteric viruses.
