Diabetic retinopathy,a complication of diabetes,involves structural changes in retinal blood vessels and dysfunction of surrounding neurons or glial tissue.Transient receptor potential(TRP)ion channels,a diverse and widely distributed superfamily of cation channels,have been implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy.Recent studies have highlighted the significant role of TRP channels in the development of diabetic retinopathy.This article summarizes the latest progress in understanding the involvement of TRP channels in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy and relat-ed research,with the aim of providing a broader research perspective and direction for the treatment of diabetic retinopa-thy.
