The Biming which is in Guizhi Decoction from Treatise on Febrile Diseases is mostly understood as oc-clusion nasal.The author believes that Biming should be understood as sneezing,which is different from the nasal conges-tion mentioned in Synopsis of Golden Chamber.In Origin of Chinese Characters,also in the Eastern Han Dynasty,Biming is a relatively high-pitched,high-loudness sound,which is best understood as sneezing.Biming and retching in Treatise on Febrile Disease with Notes is an upward reversal of Qi caused by excessive obstruction of wind evil,which reflects the pathological characteristics of upward reversal of lung Qi easily causing upward reversal of stomach Qi.At the same time,sneezing is also a self-protection mechanism of the body's immune system,which helps clear pathogens in the respiratory tract.Only by very widely reading books can we accurately understand the original intention of Treatise on Febrile Disea-ses and achieve clinical differentiation and treatment.
