Objective To conduct a visual analysis of the research dynamics,hotspots,and trends in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)treatment of optic atrophy(OA),and to provide a reference basis for further research in this are-a.Methods Retrieved and collected the relevant literature on TCM treatment for OA published on the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)database from its establishment to December 17,2023,and performed analysis and graph plotting using the citespace software.Results A total of 616 articles were included,showing an overall increasing trend in publication volume,and a faster growth rate in recent years.241 research institutions were included,with Hei-longjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine having the highest publication volume.Among the 258 authors in-cluded,Wei Qiping was the most representative author with the highest publication volume.There is a lack of regional co-operation between authors and research institutions.There were a total of 222 keywords,with high frequencies of words such as acupuncture,glaucoma,blindness,and traditional Chinese medicine,forming 9 clusters.Conclusion TCM shows promising prospects in the prevention and treatment of optic atrophy and is closely related to other ophthalmic diseases.Current research mainly focuses on clinical studies,while further exploration and clarification of its mechanisms are still needed.
