Physicochemical Properties of Different Particle Diameters of Ultrafine Powder of Astragali Radix
Objective:This article is aimed to analyze and compare the differences of physicochemical properties in different particle diameters of Astragali Radix ultrafine powders in order to provide guidance for clinical application. Methods:Different particle diameters of ultrafine powders were produced by using jet mill. Then their powder characteristics such as particle diameters, powder morphology, liquidity, hygroscopicity and dissolution behavior of active ingredients were investigated. Results:With the decreasing of particle diameters of Astragali Radix ultrafine powder, both the specific surface area and the moisture increased while the liquidity and yield decreased slightly. Also, the dissolution rates and the concentrations of the active ingredients increased overall. Conclusion:An appropriate degree of superfine grinding can promote the dissolution of active ingredients of Astragali Radix, but a smaller particle diameters will lead to a lower yield, which is Impractical for production.Therefor,a comprehensive survey is needed for the choice of the best particle diameters in production.
