Determination of Inorganic Element Content and Safety Evaluation of Terminalia chebula before and after Processing by ICP-MS
Objective:A method was established to analyze 26 inorganic elements in raw products,stir-fried products without adjuvant,stir-fried products with bran, products scalded with sand, and baked products of Terminalia chebula. The health risk of heavy metals and harmful elements in T.chebula were assessed. Methods:By using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry(ICP-MS),the 26 elements were determined by the standard curve method with rhodium and rhenium as internal standards;the hazard index(HI)method and the limit of exposure(MOE)method were used for health risk assessment. Results:The standard curves for the 26 elements exhibited excellent linear relationships, with instrumental detection limits varying from 0.000 2 to 0.434 2 μg·kg-1,and the spiked recoveries of 83.21%-116.84%.Notable distinctions in inorganic elements in T.chebula before and after processing were observed. Some heavy metals and harmful elements posed a low risk to human health. Conclusion:The method is accessible, precise, and well-suited for determining inorganic element content in T.chebula, providing a reference for health risk assessment of heavy metals and harmful elements.
