Determination of 13 Volatile Organic Compounds in Traditional Chinese Medicine by GC-MS/MS
Objective:To establish a general method for determining 13 volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)prepared and extracted by macroporous resin, including n-hexane,benzene,1,2-dichloroethane,methyl methacrylate,toluene,chlorobenzene,o-xylene,m-xylene,p-xylene,styrene,1,2-diethylbenzene,divinylbenzene,and naphthalene. Methods:A gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS/MS)method was used to determine the abovementioned VOCs in the samples, and data was collected under multi-reaction monitoring mode. Results:A total of ten batches of samples were determined, including one batch of Panax Notoginseng saponins, two batches of Tribulus terrestris saponin extract, two batches of Ginkgo biloba L.extract, two batches of Plectranthus amboinicus extract, two batches of Plectranthus amboinicus diabetic foot healing ointment, and one batch of Yixintong Tablets. Some VOCs were tested, and the test indexes were qualified, with low safety risk. Conclusion:The established method is convenient, accurate, and highly sensitive, and it can be used for rapid screening and detection of VOCs residues in TCM extracts or preparations prepared and extracted by macroporous resin, providing a reference for the quality and safety supervision of TCM.
