Objective To investigate the clinical effect of press-needle combined with auricular pressure in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Methods A total of 82 patients with knee osteoarthritis treated in the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2021 to May 2022 were selected and divided into press-needle group and routine group according to the random number table method, with 41 cases in each group. The routine group received routine rehabilitation therapy, and the press-needle group received press-needle combined with auricular pressure. The clinical efficacy, knee joint sign score, C-reactive protein (CRP) level, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) level, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC) score, visual analogue scale (VAS) score and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the press-needle group was 95.12% (39/41), which was higher than that of the routine group (80.49%, 33/41), P<0.05. After treatment, the swelling and activity scores of the press-needle group were lower than those of the routine group (P<0.05). After treatment, the CRP and ESR levels in the press-needle group were lower than those in the routine group (P<0.05). After treatment, the pain and stiffness scores in the press-needle group were lower than those in the routine group (P<0.05). After treatment, the VAS score of the press-needle group was lower than that of the routine group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the press-needle group (9.76%, 4/41) and the routine group (7.32%, 3/41),P>0.05. Conclusions Press-needle combined with auricular pressure in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis can improve the clinical efficacy, relieve the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis, relieve the pain and inflammatory activity of patients, and it is safe.
