Analysis of the results of thyroid function tests during pregnancy of 9 154 cases in Sandu shui autonomous county
Objective To investigate the current status of thyroid disease prevalence among pregnant females in Guizhou's Shui ethnic region, and to provide a referential basis for the development of intervention strategies. Methods The medical records of pregnant women admitted at the People's Hospital of Sandu Shui Nationality Autonomous County from January 2018 to December 2022 were retrospectively analysed(all of them had thyroid function test results and information on age and pregnancy week),so as to analyse the prevalence and prevalence characteristics of thyroid disorders during pregnancy. Results The rate of abnormal thyroid function in women during pregnancy in Guizhou Sui region from 2018 to 2022 was 11.23%(1 028/9 154),and univariate analysis showed that hypothyroxinemia was associated with pregnancy age,and hypothyroxinemia, hypothyroidism, and subclinical hyperthyroidism were associated with pregnancy duration;Logistic regression analysis suggested that advanced gestational age was a risk factor for hypothyroxinemia(OR=2.184,P<0.01),and there was an ele-vated risk of subclinical hypothyroidism(OR=2.470,P<0.01)and subclinical hyperthyroidism(OR=2.680,P<0.01)in the second trimester. Conclusion Hypothyroidism is the most common thyroid disorder in pregnant females in Guizhou's Shui region, and there is a need to establish region-specific reference intervals for thyroid function in pregnancy to establish diagnostic criteria,as well as to strengthen monitoring of thyroid func-tion during pregnancy and to provide timely interventions in order to reduce the risk of adverse events in pregnan-cy and improve the maternal and child health care.
