Attractant effect of host volatiles on Phortica okadai
Objective To investigate the preference of Phortica okadai for host volatiles. Methods The main components of volatile compounds of pear fermentation and insect information compounds related to human body were selected as attractants, and the Y tube was used to select the solvent of volatile compounds, and a self-made four-arm tube was used to measure the behavioral response of Phortica okadai. Results Behavioral response assays showed that nine volatiles had attractive effects on Phortica okadai.Among them,2,3-butanedione,phenethyl alcohol, ethyl propionate, ethyl octanoate, ethyl acetate, ethyl laurate and n-decanoic acid had attrac-tive effects on both female and male adult flies, while isoamyl acetate only had attractive effects on female adult flies, and 2,4-sebace-l-o1 only attractedthemale adults. An additional repellent, linalool, was found. No seduc-tive effect was found for the other components. Conclusion 2,3-butanedione,phenethyl alcohol, ethyl propio-nate,ethyl octanoate, ethyl acetate, ethyl laurate and n-decanoic acid can regulate the olfactory behavior of Phortica okadai, which provides a theoretical basis for the development of attractant for Phortica okadai.
