Analytical study on components of urinary calculi in Zunyi
Objective To analyze the characteristics of urinary lithiasis compositions and investigate their vari-ances from the perspective of different genders, ages and calculi locations. Methods A total of 1 119 cases were collected from patients who received treatment in the urinary department of Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University from January 2018 to January 2022.The patients were local residents from 13 counties within Zunyi and had a long-term residential history. The calculi compositions were detected by infrared spectroscopy and ana-lyzed with the patients'clinical data. Results Of all 1 119 cases, the gender ratio(male to female)is 1.59:1.Most patients are within 41-60 years old,of whom 58.87%are male(405/688)and 58.47%are female(252/431).According to the results of calculi compositions, mixed calculi make up 67.82%(759/1 119),of which combination calculi made of calcium oxalate monohydrate, calcium oxalate dihydrate and apatite carbonate are dominant, reaching 32.54%(247/759).The combination of calcium oxalate monohydrate and calcium ox-alate dihydrate makes up 25.82%(196/759).Calculi of single components make up 32.17%(360/1 119).They consist of calcium oxalate monohydrate calculi 77.22%(278/360)and uric acid calculi 14.72%(53/360).Gender analysis shows that detection rate of magnesium ammonium phosphate hexahydrate calculus is higher in female patients than in male patients(P<0.01).Meanwhile,male patients are more vulnerable to lower urina-ry calculi than the female patients(P<0.01).Conclusion In Zunyi, urinary lithiasis are mainly combination calculi of calcium oxalate calculi and uric acid calculi. The dominant age range for the occurrence of the disease is 41-60 years old.The occurrence rate of infectious calculi is higher in female patients than in male patients. The occurrence rate of lower urinary calculi is lower in female patients than in male patients.
